I also want to tell you a little more about how I teach, how I developed my method, why the premium courses came before the podcast, and which course might be right for you.

A little about me and my method

I’ve been teaching English online since 2011.

In the beginning, I was creating video lessons and also working directly with students.

Very early on, I noticed the same problem again and again.

Many students understood grammar, had a good vocabulary, and could read English quite well.

But when they had to speak, everything became more difficult.

Maybe this sounds familiar.

Someone asks you a question.

You understand it.

You know what you want to say.

But then you start thinking:

“How do I say this?”

“Which tense should I use?”

“What’s that word?”

And maybe you start translating from your own language.

Does that happen to you?

I’ve seen it with students from all over the world.

That’s one of the reasons I developed my own teaching method.

I wanted students to spend less time only studying English and much more time actually using it.

So I started focusing heavily on three things:

Listening.

Repetition.

And speaking.

The premium courses came first

The premium courses actually came before the podcast.

The original Fluency Course dates back to 2014.

It was created around one of the biggest problems I kept seeing with my students:

They understood English, but they couldn’t always respond quickly and naturally.

That’s why the Mini-Story technique became such an important part of my method.

I tell you part of a story and ask you lots of questions.

Sometimes the questions are very easy.

Why?

Because I want you to respond in English.

You hear the question, understand it, and answer aloud.

Again and again.

Over time, you translate less, common structures feel more natural, and you become faster at responding.

Students have been using the original Fluency Course for more than ten years, and over that time, hundreds of thousands of students around the world have learned with my lessons.

I’ve also continued teaching students one-to-one online, so I can see firsthand what they struggle with and what really helps them improve.

Why did I create the podcast?

The podcast came later, in 2017.

By then, the method and the premium courses already existed, and my students were using them.

But I wanted to create something people could use regularly and for free, with much more listening practice.

Why listening?

Because real conversations don’t come with subtitles.

When somebody speaks to you, you have to listen, understand, and respond.

That’s one of the reasons I gradually moved away from video and started focusing much more on audio.

With audio, you really have to listen to the sounds, rhythm, and the way words connect.

And you can practice almost anywhere: while walking, driving, exercising, or relaxing at home.

Today, we’re getting close to 400 podcast episodes, and some listeners have been with me for many years. I love that because English is now part of their daily life.

So what’s the difference between the podcast and the premium courses?

The podcast gives you regular English practice.

You can improve your listening, learn vocabulary, and practice with Mini-Stories and Point of View lessons.

And, of course, it’s completely free.

But the podcast is not designed as one complete step-by-step program.

The premium courses are.

They’re more structured and give you more repetition, more speaking practice, and a clear progression.

Many of my students use both.

The podcast keeps English in their daily life, while the courses give them more focused practice.

Which course should I choose?

Let’s make this simple.

Think about your main problem with English.

Are you still a beginner?

Then start with the 30-Day Crash Course.

It helps you build a foundation with simple English and lots of repetition.

If you can already understand this episode without too much difficulty, you probably don’t need the beginner course.

Do you understand English but struggle to speak?

Then I’d look at the Fluency Course.

If you translate in your head, freeze when someone asks you a question, or need too much time to answer, this course gives you lots of Mini-Story practice to help you respond more automatically.

Can you speak English, but want to sound more natural and fluent?

Then the Magic Course is the course for you.

It’s based on The Wizard of Oz, so you learn through a longer story, lots of repetition, and plenty of listening practice.

It helps you understand English more easily and express yourself more naturally.

Do you need English for work?

Then there’s the Business Course.

It’s for students who use English professionally or are preparing for a job interview.

You learn useful business vocabulary and practice common interview questions, but more importantly, you practice answering them.

Is listening or pronunciation your biggest difficulty?

Then take a look at the Pronunciation Course.

Have you ever known a word perfectly when you saw it written down, but failed to recognize it when somebody said it?

Sometimes the problem isn’t vocabulary. It’s sound.

The Pronunciation Course helps you improve both your listening and your speaking.

The goal isn’t to lose your accent. It’s to understand other people more easily and to be understood clearly.

How should I use the courses?

Do you need to sit at a desk and study for hours?

No.

The courses are based mainly on audio, so you can listen on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Repeat as many times as possible. Repetition isn’t a waste of time. It’s part of the method.

The first time, you understand the lesson.

The next time, you notice more.

Eventually, your answers become faster and more natural.
